George Davis
Youth Mentor, Athlete, and Community Leader

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, George Davis is the eldest of six children born to George and Joree Davis. As the oldest sibling, George embraced leadership from an early age, growing up alongside his four younger sisters and younger brother.

A gifted athlete despite standing just 5 feet 6 inches tall, George displayed extraordinary talent and determination throughout his youth. He played multiple sports at every level—junior high, high school, and college. Although he began his athletic journey playing baseball, George's passion for basketball ultimately prevailed, and he dedicated himself fully to the sport beginning in his sophomore year of high school.

George went on to attend Bishop College in Dallas, Texas, graduating in 1983. While in college, he continued to cultivate his athletic abilities and developed a deep passion for working with young people. In 1985, George founded Power Up Your Life Hoops, a youth basketball camp designed to teach fundamental basketball skills while also instilling essential life lessons. The camp became a beacon for aspiring athletes, helping them grow not just on the court, but as individuals.

George continued his love for the game by competing in the Dallas Pro Am League, where he played semi-professionally for many years. After his basketball career, he transitioned into the retail industry, where he spent several years in management and training roles. Even while building a career in business, George never strayed far from his mission to uplift youth. He continued to lead motivational basketball clinics, combining his knowledge of the game with a passion for mentorship and personal development.

Through decades of commitment to youth empowerment and athletic excellence, George Davis has left an indelible mark on countless lives—proving that heart, dedication, and leadership far outweigh height or circumstance.
